| CENSUS 2010 On April 1, 2010 the 23rd census will be taken. A questionnaire will be sent to about 130,000,000 households and ask 10 questions. All answers to the questionnaire are confidential. The United States Constitution requires by law that a count of the population must be conducted every 10 years on the year that ends in "0". The first census or count of the population was conducted in 1790 when George Washington was president. There have been 22 censuses conducted between 1790 and 2000. The results of the 2010 Census will be sent to the president on December 31, 2010. The population counts determine how many seats or representatives each state will have in the House of Representatives. For more information please go to www.census.gov/2010census. |
